Whose Voice is THAT?

That's my little sister Mimi. If you haven't already, click on the player on the left side of the home page. Mimi inherited my mom's incredible vocal cords. Through her work with David Byrne (of The Talking Heads), Michael Stipe (of REM), Moby, Bryan Eno (of Roxy Music) and others, Mimi made quite a name for herself within the music biz. She started as the lead singer of a band called Hugo Largo (which backed up the Sugar Cubes with Björk at a concert here in San Diego back in "the day"). These three songs are from her solo album called "Soak" and are available for listening and purchase at Amazon (MP3 format) and the iTunes Store. Enjoy!

Why is SDBC the «tête de la course» among bike clubs? There are many reasons*, but here are the ones that maintain SDBC as La Jolla Vélo's biggest sponsorship recipient in San Diego:

  1. SDBC is the most inclusive.
    • All Ages – It is the only club in San Diego that welcomes and actively supports bike riders and racers aged 5 to 105.
    • All Abilities – SDBC's Elite teams race with the pros, yet the Saturday club rides (with 7 different levels of ride ability) support absolute beginners.
  2. SDBC is the best at promoting cycling as a sport and a healthy form of recreation. SDBC's Juniors racing team has coaches that help young, aspiring athletes achieve greater results in regional and national-level races.
  3. SDBC has the most fun. Fun rides like the Borrego Springs camping trips and events like the beach BBQ and annual banquet show that SDBC members know how to chill out and have fun.
  4. SDBC is the oldest and largest bike club in San Diego. It's steeped in tradition yet always looking forward to new members and events. SDBC offers you the best chance to meet a fellow cyclist that could become a great riding buddy if not a lifetime friend.
  5. SDBC supports the community. Annual traditions like the holiday Toy Ride (for kids via the Salvation Army) and the Barrio Logan Grand Prix (for the Logan Heights Family Health Center) help SDBC members and other race registrants help the needy around San Diego County.
