  • Harbor Fish & Chips, 276 Harbor Drive South
Outdoor patio facing harbor, great fish & chips (& more), laid back atmosphere, casual & friendly
  • Coffee...?

Palomar Mountain

  • Mother's Kitchen (take left at top of South Grade road)

San Elijo Hills

  • Isabell Briens French Pastry Cafe, 1200 Elfin Forest Road East
Right on Harmony Grove loop. Coffee drinks & meals. Note: I'm a carnivore but every time I stop here I get their outstanding vegetarian sandwich on sourdough...lots of fuel for the ride back home! Get there before 2pm on schooldays when the school unloads on them.

Leucadia

  • Pannikin, 510 N Coast Highway 101
Classic spot (old train station), lots of outdoor seating, coffee drinks, sweets & meals, on average the best-looking servers in town (with Java Depot at a close 2nd; adds to the relaxed atmosphere, no?)

Encinitas

  • St. Tropez Bistro, 947 S Coast Highway 101
Large outdoor patio, coffee, sweets & meals...no wonder they thrive right next to a Starbucks

Solana Beach
  • Java Depot, 243 N Coast Highway 101 ★★★★★
The most popular cyclist eatery in town; coffee, smoothies, sweets, meals. They have supported SDBC for years so be sure to thank Bryan Fuller (the owner, tall guy) if you see him there. Be there on Saturday mornings when it gets flooded with local cyclists starting at about 10 am.

Del Mar

  • Stratford Court Cafe, 1307 Stratford Court
Just a block off the main drag; large patio, coffee & meals
  • Starbucks, 1435 Camino Del Mar
Limited outdoor seating, but if you grab a table it's very central and decent for people-watching (i.e. cosmetic surgery-spotting)
